Mdumbi Education Centre

The Mdumbi Education Centre has been created to improve education in the remote, rural areas of the former Transkei ( Eastern Cape in South Africa ). The local Xhosa people are currently stuck in the cycle of poverty and lack of education. Leaving traditional school most Xhosa’s end up in temporay handy jobs which are underpaid and with no secure future. The Mdumbi Education Centre will provide a curriculum broad enough to encourage leaders to emerge in communities, while specific enough to develop skills for the labour market. Learners will be equipped with sufficient knowledge to pursue further study at other academic institutions. Through the education and training experience, learners will emerge as confident, skilled and literate citizens, capable of making life-affirming decisions and contributing positively to the South African economy, as well as providing for their families in the present and the future.
The Mdumbi Educational Centre project is lead by non-profit organisation, Transcape (035-619 NPO) which supports the local people to recognise and utilise their resources in a way that their culture is preserved whilst adapting to and part-taking in the Western economy. Transcape is slowly and carefully integrating projects that are in line with the needs of the local people in a holistic and environmentally healthy way.
The funds raised by Love Is All We Need will go directly to the Mdumbi Education Centre.
